各位！各位！2012第十一屆城市遊牧影展開始徵件啦！延續去年影展觀眾人數的新紀錄，我們今年更努力，要給大家印象深刻的影片、樂團演出以及遊牧影展特有的視覺馬戲團！不過，這些訊息先暫時保密，現在先與大家宣佈今年台灣最佳短片競賽的獎金：首獎為20,000元；次獎為10,000元，觀眾票選獎為10,000元，觀眾票選獎更第一次開放給亞洲地區的華語電影，心動了吧？還不快將檔案整理好，將影片寄給我們吧！

參賽作品只要是45分鐘內的短片，且於台灣製作、跟台灣有關的影片，或者為台灣導演或製作人，於2010年後拍攝製作，沒有任何類型的限制：紀錄片、劇情片、實驗電影、錄像藝術、kuso影片都可以。期待看您的好作品！

國際影片算是城市遊牧影展的重點之一。我們也歡迎國外導演來徵件，雖然不能參賽，但影展中會播放你的影像作品，更有機會被邀請至影展活動現場跟本地的朋友交流，並且和台灣影片共同角逐最佳觀眾票選獎。

短片的收件截止日期是 2012年3月1日，長片是2月15日。以郵戳為憑，逾時不候！影展將於4月13日在台北華山1914創意園區舉行，隨後巡迴至其他城市。

遊牧影展培養台灣新導演已為時多年，我們歡迎各路人馬報名，無論是學生導演、無師自通的創作者或是業界的頂尖高手，這裡就是你展現才氣的舞台！而且，獎金是一定要的啦！另外，今年增加了映前∕後座談會場次的安排，讓你以導演的身分站在螢幕前和現場觀眾對談。啊！還有還有，入圍者可以免費參加影展相關活動，包含：影片放映、趴踢…等等。

有什麼比拿獎金、成名，又可同時以特別來賓的身分，免費跑遍所有活動更誘人的？還猶豫什麼，快來投稿參加吧！

我們歡迎各類型影片，徵件說明如下：

＊45分鐘以內的作品才算是「短片」。15分鐘以內的短片有優先錄取的機會。長片也有入圍機會。
＊影片製作年份皆需在 2010-2012 年之間。
＊中文影片需有英文字幕，其他語言別的影片則需具中文字幕。具中英文雙語字幕的影片將優先錄取。
＊請勿重複投稿往年曾參加過遊牧影展的作品
＊兩個評審獎項是給「台灣短片」，只要是台灣導演、在台灣製作的影片，或跟台灣相關的短片都可以參加。
＊觀眾票選獎是給台灣短片以及亞洲地區的中文短片（中國，香港，新加坡，馬來西亞等國家都有資格參賽）。
＊每部影片需填寫一份徵件申請書。
＊每部徵件影片需獨立在一張 DVD 光碟，請勿在同一張光碟上包含其它影片或資料
＊一份郵件中可包含多張光碟（多部影片和多份徵件申請書）。

影片：《老媽蹄花》
艾未未工作室／2011／80分鐘／中文發音／中文簡體字幕

四川地震之後，公家工程的豆腐渣問題被突顯出來，四川維權人士譚作人因為調查此問題而被捕，並以「煽動顛覆國家政權罪」起訴，艾未未應譚的律師之邀去成都出庭作證他並不具此意圖，但在前一晚凌晨三點遭警方破門而入並被毆打，後來並遭到現場扣留，讓艾未未無法出庭。後來艾未未一行人前往該地執法機關，主張釋放同行的志願者並調查是誰將他們非法囚禁，卻得到迴避、不理會或無效的回應。《老媽蹄花》一放到網路上後，引起了極大的迴響，其中亦有志願者將此片翻譯為多語版本，傳播範圍無遠弗屆。

馮正虎，經濟學家及維權運動者，中國浙江省溫州人，2009年2月15日被上海公安強行綁架出境，滯留日本成田機場第一空港入境審查大廳92天，以示抗議。101天後，被允許重返上海。

2008年的5月12日，四川發生了自唐山大地震以來傷亡最慘重的一次地震。同年 12月5日艾未未發起「公民調查志願者活動」，對512大地震遇難學生的具體數據，如：學校、姓名、年齡、班級、家庭住址、家長聯繫方式等進行調查。艾未未以「公民調查」的名義向中央、四川省級、縣市級以及基金會等100多家不同政府機構申請公開512條完整信息，包括災情核查、捐款使用明細、坍塌校舍調查報告、以及遇難師生具體情況等近萬條信息，但卻沒有得到任何正面回覆。2009年11月，記錄地震一周年以來災區遇難學生家長的境況，並探討校舍倒塌的豆腐渣工程問題的調查性影片《花臉巴兒》出品。

左小祖咒

富有傳奇色彩的搖滾客、當代藝術家，同時又是詩人、小說家和電影配樂人，是艾未未的長年摯友，他曾為艾未未的許多記錄片進行配樂。這位昔日的地下搖滾先鋒，前衛藝術家群落「北京東村」的第一批人物和締造者，如今已成為前衛青年、文藝青年心目中的偶像。是當前中國大陸最有影響力和最有思想力的搖滾歌手。

近期，左小祖咒重新編曲，給錢順南的哭訴配上了最簡單的木吉他和口琴，在自己的最新獨立專輯裏低調推出〈我的兒子叫做錢雲會〉。他說，這是給錢雲會案(見《平安樂清》)一個交代——只能是一個交代，甚至傳播時，這個交代連完整的名字都不被允許。

花兒為什麼這樣紅，是中國的一首禁歌，歌詞充滿火紅、鮮活的生命力，也是艾曉明執導的一部禁片。本片講述譚作人、艾未未、與另外一部電影《老媽蹄花》的故事。2009年，譚作人起草題為《5.12學生檔案》的倡議書，呼籲民間對汶川大地震遇難學生的校舍工程進行調查。2009年，譚作人以曾經公開發表關於六四事件的文章之罪名被捕，並以「煽動顛覆國家政權罪」判有期徒刑5年。在川震兒童生命凋零之處，繼譚作人被捕之後，批判藝術家艾未未團隊拒絕遺忘，進而要求政府信息公開，承擔責任。當然，還有在鏡頭後面的導演艾曉明，她被迫提早退休、被限制離境，然而手執鏡頭，把公民面對制度暴力的執著記錄下來，見證汶川大地震後面隱藏的歷史惡夢，帶給人民謊言底下真實的力量。

影片：《一個孤僻的人》

北京一個八○後的青年，名叫楊佳，到上海旅遊，途中因為警察無故扣留其腳踏車，據法力爭，卻遭粗言與暴力對待。後來向有關單位投訴無效，卻只得到私下補貼與威脅恫赫的回應。2008年7月1日，遂持刀闖入上海市公安局閘北分局大樓，一連擊殺，造成該分局警員6死3傷。媒體以「一個孤僻的人」標籤他，但楊佳自己的名言說明了一切：「任何事情，你要給我一個說法，你不給我一個說法，我就給你一個說法。」艾未未工作室以兩年的時間追蹤案情，採訪相關人等，拍攝成《一個孤僻的人》。

勞工維權者劉德軍被便衣員警毆打並綁架丟離北京，艾未未得知消息後去理解當時的事發經過，紀錄下了警治社會對待維權者(另包括片中的劉沙沙)的方式，並試圖釐清一些當中的疑點。這些疑點主要是來自於維權運動群體間的對同行者可能是公安臥底的猜疑和不信任，紀錄片中並且採集了許多人對這事件的評論，我們亦可以從中看到艾未未及其小組在這個訪查過程中可能涉及到被警察釣魚的危險，《花好月圓》成為一個類懸疑片類型的紀錄片。

片名: The Duck of Nature/The Duck of God (short)

評審說明: 第一次觀看影片時，「Duck of God」似乎沒有太多的意義，這無非是出自於十七世紀著名哲學家－斯賓諾沙的一句名言。隨機去詢問100個人關於這句話的解釋，也許會得到120種回答，不過，在這句話中，卻也暗示著與我們有極大關聯的現代世界。影片運用幽默地方式呈現，作了一個很好的切入點，讓觀眾窺見在一個體制世界中，作為一隻呆板鴨子的難處。鴨子有許多訊息想與大家分享，但沒有觀眾願意傾聽。也許，這評論著我們－這個生活於網路世界的時代，Facebook、”MeTubes”將取代斯賓諾沙的神論；從前，我們在餐前禱告，而如今我們只需要把一張在部落格，或者iPhoto中的食物照片，放在虛擬的祭壇上。也或許，這是對疏離題材的寓言；寂寞、強烈渴望與社會連結。網路的快速以及資訊的瞬息萬變，人們的互動、交流，這世界看似提供了一切，然而，我們仍然感到孤寂。又或許，根本就沒有這回事。影片有著好萊塢式的美好結局，並為續集留下些許伏筆。

評審說明: 每個人心裡面都存在一只巨獸，難以推倒的非眼前所見，而是心裡背負著一條條沈重的記憶、環境認同或意識形態史。這部作品用成熟的影像語言，傳達了這些揮之不去的存在與的各自表述。

評審說明: 鮑孟德的影片得到了多數觀眾的投票。毫無疑問地，獲得了2011年城市遊牧影展觀眾票選獎項。這部影片描述了從泰國初來乍到台灣的兩位「外星人」。主角的其中之一，是一隻源於泰國種的鯉魚，它的入侵使得本土魚類皆被滅絕，帶有腐敗惡臭的口感更讓餐廳無法將其供應上桌。另一位主角則是寂寞的泰國新娘，經濟的因素，讓他移民至台灣，嫁給了在鄉下開設餐廳的老闆。在簡陋的餐廳環境與設備的畫面中，此部短片試著提醒我們全球性的轉變以及新移民群問題的存在，更好的說法，我們至少可以從中抱持一些期望，並找到解決方法。

別再猶豫　潛進新幻想世代

長話短說！為了今年的第十屆的城市遊牧影展，咱們要辦個老硬派的趴踢。請到來自布魯克林的超屌迷幻團、加上我們在地的DJ和樂團和無敵炫的視效。這將會是我們有史以來最好玩、最搞怪的趴，同時也是個高水準的藝術盛會。

這個概念是當初UN和Danny Perez相遇時誔生的。Perez是與鬼才異種樂隊Animal Collective合作拍攝Oddsac這張視覺專輯的導演。我們寫信請Danny來台北辦個活動，他回答道：「搞點瘋狂的吧，來弄個Video mindfuck party」超讚的！我們馬上就說好（有什麼好遲疑？）加上來自布魯克林人氣獨立樂團Gang Gang Dance裡 Lizzi Bougatsos所組的前衛實驗女子團體I.U.D.，這樣的陣容，只能請你做好準備，我們要大閙一番！

Animal Collective共同創作古根漢前衛視覺藝術家
Animal Collective和視覺藝術家Danny Perez的合作是很自然的。Perez本身已導演過數部MV，其中包括了實驗樂團 Black Dice 和 Animal Collective成員 Panda Bear。Danny運用了一貫的DIY精神，揉合原始與前衛科技而創造出一種特有的視覺風格。自發行「Oddsac」以來，他持續與Animal Collective合作在世界知名的現代藝術館創作現場裝置藝術，其中還包括紐約古根漢美術館和巴黎龐畢度中心。這次遊牧給了Danny四台高輸出投影機和一座空倉庫，他挑選了紐約的藝術搖滾團I.U.D.共同創作本次演出的音樂。

關於「Oddsac」：美國最夯的獨立搖滾團Animal Collective 是Coachella等各大搖滾節的主秀團。他們也曾以名曲「Summertime Clothes」成功地打進商業電台。在最新專輯中，他們更以「視覺專輯」這種同時進行音樂與視覺創作的斬新手法挑戰全新領域。這張與導演Danny Perez合作的專輯「Oddsac」（2010）就在2010年日舞影展首演。其中Animal Collective量身打造的十三首曲可是別的地方聽不到的喔。此片帶領著觀眾從黏綢的黑油到詭異的煉獄甚至到了有山妖洗蛋的林中溪流。透著一股迷幻而邪惡的氣息。雖然音樂型態屬電子原聲－非常有現代感，甚至讓人有種與之共舞的感覺－但核心概念還是回溯到70年代的迷幻音樂，如Pink Floyd的「The Wall」和The Who的「Tommy」。團員Panda Bear說明了電影的概念是「閉著眼聽Animal Collective的音樂時腦中會浮現的影象」。「Oddsac」也將在城市遊牧影展放映，放映場次即將公布!

I.U.D.

I.U.D. 是來自紐約布魯克林的前衛實驗樂團。主成員為人氣樂團Gang Gang Dance的Lizzi Bougatzos和Sadie Laska。兩人都是鼓手，也帶進了各式的電子節奏和弦律。以取樣(sample)建構樂曲的同時，Lizzi用嘯妖般的高音飆出瘋狂而不可解的歌聲和嘶吼。他們的曲風融合了粗藝術搖滾、工業噪音、以及無浪放克，並曾被Boredoms、Front242、和 Butthole Surfers等樂團相比擬。雖然Lizzi在獨立樂界成名已久，也曾在 Fuji rock, Coachella 和其他大型歐洲音樂祭演奏；I.U.D.卻是個在2010創立的新團。這將會是他們第一次在亞洲的演出，說起來可是他們第一次出國表演呢！台北！我們搶到頭香啦！

VIDEO MINDFUCK PARTY The short story here is that for the 10th Urban Nomad, we’re gonna kick an oldschool warehouse party with a freak-out psychedelic band from Brooklyn, huge visuals and our favorite local bands and DJs. This will count as both a serious art happening and the funnest, weirdest party we’ve ever had.

The idea started out when Urban Nomad contacted Danny Perez, the director of Oddsac, a “visual album” with music by the hugely popular indie rock group Animal Collective. When we emailed Danny and asked him to do an event in Taipei, he wrote said, let’s do something really freaky, let’s do a “video mindfuck party.” We thought that was awesome and it only took us about one second to say yes. So we’ve invited Perez to perform at Urban Nomad with the Brooklyn-based art-rock band I.U.D., a new project by Lizzi Bougatsos of the popular indie band Gang Gang Dance. We’re also going to show the film Oddsac as part of the festival. Get ready to trip hard.

DANNY PEREZ
The collaboration between Animal Collective and visual artist Danny Perez came pretty naturally, as Perez had already directed a number of music videos and for other experimental bands such as Black Dice and Animal Collective member, Panda Bear. Danny embodies the same DIY spirit and has created a unique visual look that mixes lo-fi techniques with new technology. Since the release of “Oddsac,”he’s continued working with Animal Collective to produce live installations in some of the world’s top museums for modern art, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris. For Urban Nomad, we’re giving Danny four high power projectors and an empty warehouse. He chose the New York art-rock band I.U.D. to create the music for this performance.

*About ODDSAC

Animal Collective, one of America’s top indie bands, is now a top headliner at big rock festivals like Coachella and has even broken through to commercial radio success with songs like the hit “Summertime Clothes.” But for their latest album, the decided to go into groundbreaking territory with a “visual album” in which both music and visuals were created together. The result was “Oddsac” (2010), a collaboration with director Danny Perez that debuted at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and features 13 tracks by Animal Collective that you won’t hear anywhere else. In the film, one goes from gooey black oil to some bizarre inferno to mountains streams where goblins wash eggs in a mountain stream. It is hallucinatory and wicked. While the sound is electro-acoustic, very modern and even perhaps oddly danceable, the idea goes back to psychedelic concept albums of the 1970s like “The Wall” by Pink Floyd and “Tommy” by The Who. Band member Panda Bear described the movie, saying the idea was to "create a movie that would have visuals similar to what somebody would see if they closed their eyes while listening to Animal Collective's music." Danny Perez will be in Taipei to introduce the screening, hang out, and maybe even DJ.

I.U.D.
I.U.D. is a tribal-freakout band from Brooklyn, NY that features Lizzi Bougatsos of the highly popular musical group Gang Gang Dance and Sadie Laska. Both play drums, and they also bring in all kinds of electronic beats, melodies and samples while Lizzi wails out crazy, incomprehensible siren shrieks and melodies. Their sound is a mix of low-fi art rock, industrial noise and no-wave funk, and the music has been compared to bands like the Boredoms, Front 242 and the freakout jams of the Butthole Surfers. Even though Lizzi is famous in the world of indie rock and has played Fuji Rock, Coachella and lots of big European music festivals, I.U.D. is a brand new band formed in 2010. This will be the first time they ever play in Asia, or for that matter, outside of the US, so Taipei gets to see them first!

第十屆城市遊牧影展開始徵片徵志工！
獎金總額40,000元的短片競賽！大力趴替，大家用力拍片吧！

堂堂邁入2011年的城市遊牧影展今年依舊缺你不可！今年是影展的第十屆，活動內容當然可讓大家期待，可是那晚一點再說，在這時間只宣佈今年最佳台灣短片競賽的獎金總額提高到新台幣40,000元！首獎為25,000元，次獎為7,500元，觀眾票選獎為7,500元，各位影音創作好漢們，快點將手上的大作整理一番，趕在截止日前踴躍的投件。

可以參賽的作品只要是台灣的短片，就是說60分鐘以內的台灣製作的影片、台灣導演或製作人的影片以及跟台灣特別有關溪的影片。類型上都沒有任何的限制，紀錄片、劇情片、試驗電影、錄像藝術、kuso都可以，製作年最早於2009年，真期待看您的好作！

截止日期分別為 2011年2月28日，影展將於5月初在台北舉行，隨後巡展至其他城市。

Once again, back! It's the incredible! The film animal! The uncannable!

The Urban Nomad Film Fest is now accepting entries for its TENTH annual festival, to take place in Taipei, Taiwan starting in early May 2011, to be followed by touring dates to other cities in Taiwan. This year will continue to combine the world's best indie docs and with Taiwan's best short films, and we're also going to rig up a total environment for the video arts, which will be more than a viewing experience, it will be an actual experience.... And you have a chance to be part of it. In fact, we can't do it without you! Please send us your kick-butt documentaries, short films, experimental films and video art. If you want to help out with Urban Nomad, we would also love to have you as a festival volunteer.

Total prize money for our Taiwan Short Film Competition has increased to NT$40,000, with a TOP JURY PRIZE of NT$25,000!!! There will also be a second prize of NT$7,500 and an audience prize of NT$7,500.

The competition is for short films (under 60 minutes) produced in Taiwan, by Taiwanese directors or that have some significant relationship to Taiwan.* There are no restrictions on genre. Our definition of "film" includes any time-based work that can be burned onto a DVD, including documentary, narrative, experimental, video art and other genres.

We are also extremely happy to receive non-competition films, i.e. films from outside Taiwan or feature-length films. International directors, we encourage you to submit your films. You are a very important part of our programming, and every year we sponsor director visits and related events, which helps our community here to grow. We will be very good to you.

The entry deadline is February 28. (We must RECEIVE your film by this date.)

Rules and Suggestions:
- Films under 15 minutes stand a greater chance of getting accepted.
- Around 12 feature-length films are accepted each year, on average
- Priority will be given to films with both Chinese and English: in other words, Chinese language films should have English subtitles, and films in any other language should ideally have Chinese subtitles
- Films should be produced no earlier than 2009.
- Do not submit the same film you submitted in previous years.
- You must fill out one application form per film you submit.
- Each film should be on its own, separate DVD.
- You can send more than one DVD (and application form) per package.
- It is easiest for us to receive regular or registered mail via the post office.

If your film is accepted, you will be entitled to FREE ENTERY to all Urban Nomad events, including screenings and parties. Basically, we hope you can come hang out and enjoy the festival with us. Also, if you can speak at the screening of your film, that would be awesome!

*note: Eligibility for the competition is at the discretion of the Urban Nomad Film Fest.

We need translators (English to Chinese) for film subtitles and event Staff for screenings and other events. CONCEPT: Because Treasure Hill is located along one of Taipei’s busiest bicycle paths, we’ve decided to create a new type of Drive-in Theater, and we’re inviting all of Taipei to drive in on their bicycles and watch some films with us. We’ll be showing one film a week for about six weeks in October and November. Aside from a special surprise we have prepared for Halloween, these films will be documentaries we’ve chosen because they’re both entertaining and tell us important things about the world around us. In recent decades, the world has been changing incredibly fast, and documentaries not only capture these changes most directly, they also reflect more basic changes, because they represent a democratization of the filmmaking process. Different groups of people are now more able to make films than ever before, especially women, activist groups, subculture groups and members of the developing world. As a result, views of “the world” are changing, and through documentary film we are seeing a richer and more diverse landscape of events. These events can be geopolitical news events, virtual events that take place through the media, or the grass-roots cultural developments. What they have in common, and what documentary captures best, is how these are all also human events, involving real people living real lives. All films will be free to the public, and we will invite some directors for audience Q&A sessions, workshops and screenings.

HOW TO WATCH MOVIES OUTDOORS?
First off, we recommend plastic wine glasses, because they will not break and certainly look better than paper cups. But seriously, these screenings will be outdoors and seating will consist of a lovely grassy park, so we recommend you prepare yourself just a bit. Good things to bring include: blankets and mats to sit on, camping chairs, mosquito repellent, a lunchbox from your favorite restaurant, proper clothing, and anything else you think you will need. Some beverages will be available.

概念：寶藏巖位於台北市最重要自行車道途中，因此城市遊牧影展決定創造一種新式電影院。舊式汽車電影院幾乎看不見了，所以我們要往前看，來做個「自行車電影院」，邀請台北市民踏過自行車道跟我們一起欣賞電影與寶藏巖的獨特美麗夜景。

近幾十年來，這個世界瞬息萬變令人難以捉摸，紀錄片不只直接地記錄這些變化，更反映出紀錄片製作過程民主化的基本變化，製作紀錄片的族群比以往更廣泛，並擴充至女性、社運團體、次文化族群以及發展中國家的人民。透過不同族群製作的紀錄片，我們看見世界觀正在改變，也看見一個更豐盛多元的事件風景。這些事件可以是地理政治學的新事件、透過媒體發生的事件或是草根文化發展。他們的共通點，也是紀錄片的關鍵，便是關注真實人類的真實生活。

我們將於10月及11月份的六個周末播放戶外電影，西方萬聖節時也有個令人期待的特映會。所有影片免費觀賞，我們也將邀請寄錄片導演到寶藏巖舉辦座談或工作坊。

參加活動小撇步：
像這般戶外草地上的放映，我們建議你利用塑膠的葡萄酒杯子，不過這不是說那種很便宜的拋棄式的塑膠杯子，要有一點水準吧！之外，多少準備一下以下物品：毯子或墊子、童軍椅、防蚊液、從你最喜歡的餐廳買來的食物，記得穿著簡單輕便的衣物。我們會供應一些飲料，當然也可以自己準備水。如果你想喝飲料，我們推薦使用塑膠杯，因為比較好看又不像紙杯容易破。

卜樺是中國的Flash動畫藝術家，並曾參與重要展覽包括：上海雙年展、釜山雙年展以及各個影展（例如自2007年起參加遊牧影展！）。在卜樺許多的短片作品中總有會出現一個穿著學校制服的小女孩不斷探索著一個虛擬世界，並觀察虛擬世界中混雜的流行文化及充斥全球政治、環境惡化、工業社會疏離的黑暗現實。此次放映配合台北兩個畫廊單位Chi-Wen Gallery及就在藝術空間同步展出卜樺個展。放映的卜樺數位短片內容則包括：卜樺2010年的最新作品 -- LV森林、中國搖滾傳奇歌手左小詛咒 2010年的MV，以及深受大家喜愛的卜樺2007年的作品 -- 野蠻叢生。

Bu Hua is a Chinese artist and animator working in Flash animation, whose works have appeared in major art exhibitions like the Shanghai Biennial and Busan Biennial, and also film festivals (like Urban Nomad since 2007!). Many of her short films feature the character of a little school girl, who explores a surreal world that mixes pop culture with the dark realities of global politics, environmental degradation, and the alienation of an industrial society. This screening is held in coordination with two local art galleries now showing her works, Chi Wen Gallery and Project Fulfill Art Space. The short films include her newest work, LV Forest (2010), a music video for the Chinese rock legend Zuoxiao Zuzhou (2010), and one of our favorites, Savage Growth (2007).

在緬甸，加州聯合石油公司和法國道達爾石油公司為保護該公司的油管工程，僱用緬甸軍政府的軍隊，在油管區進行非人道行為：武力脅迫、施虐及強暴當地居民。緬甸人權民運人士卡索瓦Ka Hsaw Wa多次進出該地區，冒著生命危險，紀錄遭到政府加害的人民慘況和種族屠殺現場。他拍攝的影片間接促成美國史上第一起跨國控告人權侵害的訴訟案，這起官司纏訟將近十年後，卡索瓦以及他的族人們終於獲得平反。

This documentary investigates the human rights abuses associated with the construction of an oil pipeline in Burma funded by western oil companies, UNOCAL and TOTAL. It is also the story of the one-man mission of Burmese activist Ka Hsaw Wa, a former jungle warrior wanted by authorities both in Myanmar and Thailand. Ka risks his life in video-taped border crossings to document burned out villages and scenes of genocide, all funded by US oil companies and executed by the Myanmar’s junta government. His footage and reports result in a landmark court case in the US. It is the first time foreign nationals bring a class action lawsuit against US companies – and win!

Discussion Forum: Filmmaking and Human Rights in Burma

As an independent filmmaker and freelance journalist, Milena Kaneva has reported from Africa, Asia, and South America, reporting for World Wide Television News, RAI (Italy), PBS and National Geographic Television, among others. Her reports on the Dalai Lama from India and her interview with the Nobel Prize laureate for Peace, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, kept under house arrest by the Burmese military junta for the last fifteen years, were broadcast around the world. Here she will discuss her experiences in Burma with members of the Taiwan chapter of the Free Burma Network, including Tony Yang and Bai Yi-jun.

創想計畫是由各種不同形式的藝術表現方式所結合而成的一個網站平台，不管是音樂、美術、影片、設計、建築或是任何你想的到的表現手法，都在這個網站裏面。當初網站成立時就是為了讓更多人看到這些想法和創意。這個網站的特色在於融合了一些藝術家的創意作品以及他們所製作的簡短紀錄片。而那也就是我們這次設立這些單元的最吸引人的地方。這個單元有前陣子剛來過台灣表演的Peaches(暴力蜜桃)、和十月十日即將來台表演的德國DJ Boys Noize，以及曾來台兩次的中國超新星龐克團---新褲子(New Pants)主唱:彭磊的影像作品，像是MV、視覺藝術……等等。

創想計畫是由Intel和Vice雜誌所共同創辦的，這些影片的中文字幕是由他們的中國合作者Niurenku.com所翻譯的。

The Creators Project is an online platform for that has set out to display creativity across all platforms, whether music, arts, video, design, architecture or you name it. It features both the creative works of its artists as well as short documentaries on them that it produced, and that’s what we’re featuring here: short docs on the music and performance of Peaches, the German DJ Boys Noize, and the Chinese musician and filmmaker Peng Lei. 今夜為我們帶來視覺上饗宴的是都來自北京的設計師雷磊和曾三度來台表演的火紅龐克團Carsick Cars 暈暈車! 這場放映同時也是美國一位知名的影像導演Danny Perez的作品大全。他曾經幫一些很酷炫的團拍過音樂錄影帶，像是Animal Collective 和黑骰子樂團 (Black Dice)。

Tonight, the Creators Project gives us designer Ray Lei and the rock band Carsick Cars, both from Beijing. There is also US filmmaker Danny Perez, who has directed music videos and even made films for cool bands, including Animal Collective and the Black Dice.

Coan “Buddy” Nichols 與 Rick Charnoski 1998年認識，一下子就發先他們都超愛兩個東西，一個是玩滑板，另一個是以超八米厘底片為拍電影。他們兩個也是那種為了尋找聽說過的傳奇玩滑板的地方，願意開車兩天，不管是在德州，奧勒岡州，或是加州的無水的游泳池。這十年來，他們一直靠著這種素材拍了許多電影，片中的又粗糙又美麗的美學感夠好引起著明獨立電影導演 Gus van Sant 的主意，他後來利用他們的一些片斷在《迷幻公園》 (Paranoid Park) 一部電影裡。 Rick 與 Buddy 拍過電視廣告，MV，短片電影，紀錄片等不同類型的作品，我們現在非常的高興他們能來台北發表部新作！11月27日晚上播放電影之外，他們還會參加寶藏嚴11月27日至28日的 open studio，我們想歡迎大家過來遊牧影展的工作室好好認識。

Coan “Buddy” Nichols and Rick Charnoski met in New York in 1998 through skateboarding and shared an interest in super 8 film. They were the kind of guys who would drive halfway across America to skate a ramp in a backyard in Texas, a skate park in Oregon, or some empty swimming pools in California. They made films about all these things with a beautiful and grainy aesthetic of film, one so powerful Gus van Sant used some of their footage for his film Paranoid Park. Rick and Buddy have been making skate films for more than 10 years now, and also TV commercials, fashion films, music videos, short movies and documentaries. Their biggest so far is Deathbowl to Downtown (2008), a history of skateboarding in New York.

For the open studio at Treasure Hill Artist Village on Nov. 27-28 (Sat-Sun), Rick and Buddy will install some of their earlier films inside their studio. Anyone is welcome to come hang out with them.

This short horror film is based on an old article in the first great American skateboard magazine, Thrasher. The article was about a bunch of kids who went to skate a pool at a house inhabited by a satanic cult. Guess what happens next?

《紐約滑板客大事記》Deathbowl to Downtown

Rick 跟 Buddy 一直說這部紀錄片“不應該視為紐約市滑板場景的正式歷史”,不過到現在都沒有更好的版本。為了拍這部，他們花了三年，訪問跟這個歷史有關的超過一百位，也整理好了數千老照片與數百個小時的老 VHS 錄影帶。在這個過程中，導演們一直遇上某一些故事，這部紀錄片就是收集這些故事的結果。透過敘述者 Chloe Sevigny (《Dogville》,《The Brown Bunny》,《Kids》) 的旁白，我們也看見滑板文化是如何從加州的衝浪文化的一個來源而登上陸地，後來傳染到美國各地郊區，終於在80年代的紐約經過一個很關鍵的變化，變成目前還流行的“街頭滑板”模式。

Rick and Buddy say this movie is “not meant to be viewed as the THE HISTORY of skateboarding in New York City,” but it is certainly the best one so far. They spent three years interviewing over 100 people from every generation of the NY skate scene and went through thousands of archival photos and hundreds of hours of footage. Throughout this process the same stories came up over and over. This film, narrated by Chloe Sevigny, is a collection of those stories. It’s also the tale of how skateboarding came out of the ocean in California, then spread to the suburbs all across America, and then in the 1980s underwent an important transformation in New York City, where the urban landscape finally took on a close association with skateboarding and “street skating” was born.

有人記得寶藏巖嗎？是台北市邊緣的一個很好晚的地方，4年前藝術類型的活動很多，為了整修已關了三年多，10月2日重新開幕。新的經營單位是台北國際藝術村，他們早就拜託遊牧影展讓人家知道這個好事情，邀請我們來播放電影，所以我們想起了《腳踏車電影院》這個概念，可以讓人家在戶外欣賞免費的電影，季節也剛好是秋天，傍晚通常很舒服，很適合鋪一塊布在草地上，喝自己帶來的葡萄酒，欣賞好片！

為了配合寶藏巖的開幕，遊牧影展的《腳踏車電影院》10月3日進行第一場放映，後來從10月23日至11月28日幾乎每個週末都有一場 (我們會在本網站宣佈細節）

The first will be on Oct. 3 and will coincide with Treasure Hill's reopening weekend. Billy Harvey’s “Everywhere Now” is as much inspiring and heart wrenching, as it is universally relatable. It depicts an almost 8000 mile odyssey Billy undertook in the winter of 2008 after converting his 1981 Mercedes diesel to run on waste vegetable oil. “Think of it…Fast food chains could be the gas stations of the future” Harvey exclaims. Equal parts comedy/tragedy, the almost immediate unraveling of his plan quickly shifts the focus of this movie from his car to his character. Freezing temperatures, impossible drives, and the relentless malfunctioning of his engine slant the movie away from “documentary” and more toward “confessional”. It is here, as he honks and sputters his way across America that his insights and indomitable spirit expose the true heart of this movie...him. What we recognize of him in ourselves is what makes this story so moving. “Everywhere Now” may be a touchstone for us all, giving pause to question and almost surely encouraging one to just keep going.

We have some more good news. The 2010 Urban Nomad program will tour to one more city in Taiwan, Kaohsiung, Taiwan's second largest city and one of the largest shipping hubs in Asia. (Your computer has probably been there even if you haven't.) They have a wonderful facility called the Kaohsiung Film Archive, a government run film house with a film library and 120-seat theater. All the screenings are completely free to the public.

位於巴西里約熱內盧的貧民窟深處，圍繞著八零年代美國節奏舞曲和傳統巴西森巴音樂的派對，正在悄悄舉行著。本片跟隨著國際知名DJ Wesley Pentz(或稱 Diplo)，冒險深入龍蛇雜處之處，探究音樂和舞蹈現象。Pentz是發現發現並推揚 “baile funk”(里約放克)音樂的功臣，並透過CD的發行在歐美各地推廣。這樣的音樂起源於暴力又貧困的環境，卻使的它更為裸露，存粹並直刺人心。這部紀錄片試著以一個故事架構來探討情、愛、貧窮與自尊，並用里約熱內盧這些最被邊緣化的人物來作詮釋。當然還有英雄反派兩立的情結，以及那遏制不住的跳舞癮！

Shot in Super 8mm film and HD digital, Guillaume Mazloum’s [The Lost Cause] hinges on the human experience search for meaning amid a rebellious uprising. A complete loss or absence of hope is discerned by the protagonist through a dystopian tableau. This existential despair marks the consequences that come with human freedom and responsibility because meaning cannot be prescribed but must be realized. 【流】表現了時間的流動，描摹當人們迷失於時空中所產生的困惑混亂，以及其中倏忽即逝的心理回音。該實驗影片以觸發幽閉恐懼及焦慮的方式來述說失去控制的昏眩不安。朦朧彷彿催眠式的視覺捕捉與組合，交織以扭曲的影像，【流】嘗試要捕捉生命中飄渺幽微的變化，卻也同時絕望地蔓生滋長著感懷，對於一年裡不停運行的季節──隨著流動的呼吸自然蒸散。

A representation of the flux of time, 流, which means “flow,” draws on the notions of the temporal and the psychological echoes of confusion when one experiences a loss of space and time. Evoking fears of claustrophobia and anxiety, this experimental video addresses the qualms of losing control. Shot and composed through hazy and trance-like visuals intertwined with distorted and stitched photographic imagery, 流 seeks to capture the subtle nuances and erratic moments in life while hopelessly trailing the fainting nostalgia of seasons that shift continuously throughout the year--exhaled by nature, one breath, or flow, at a time.

VJ Dolcevita is a video performance artist who makes moving images created from analog films cut-and-pasted with impressionistic hues. Displayed on large screens to create an atmospheric experience, her work is conceptually driven stemming from personal experiences and subjective observations of the everyday. 《昭和事變》由照片與底片、超八、DV、數位相機、手機等各式媒材組成。在原始材質上，著重在對於底片特性的運用與數位檔案間的翻轉，在拍攝上採取放任態度令意外自然產生。比如說一台電池失效的相機其底片過度曝光，經由數位調整反差之後產生歧異的顏色質感；而在超八的底片特性上，利用人工手沖的方式，改變手沖的溫度、時間，去製造底片的＂質變＂；最後利用數位的翻轉製作，使用掃描、翻拍、數位剪輯下的重新排列（速率、景框、格放等），去為各種媒材進行統整結合的工作。

Shōwa Incident is edited and combined by different mediums, such as photos, films, images taken from super8, DV, digital camera and cell phone. The adaption of mediums
puts emphasis on the characteristic of film and the subversive results of re-editing the digital data. To create the random effects, the artist shot the film casually. For example, by adjusting digital contrast of the over-exposed film done by a battery malfunctioned camera will generate an unusual color texture. With the nature of a super8 film, the artist uses handmade method, changes the temperature and times taken to make the qualitative change of the film. Lastly, she uses the technical skills of scanning, re-shoot, digital editing and other digital conversions to make new arrangements, also the integration of different media.

趙小姐是台灣實驗電影創作者，同時也製作音樂，目前是實驗電子樂團Varo的成員。作品使用超八、十六釐米底片與數位媒材進行整合，關注於個人情感在家庭歷史背景的紛擾之下舉步維艱的行走歷程。

Chao Doll is an experimental film director and a composer, currently a member of experimental electronic band “Varo”. Her works combines the mediums of super 8, 16 mm film and digital mediums, and the theme is mostly about the arduous path under the turmoil of personal emotions and family history.

Chris Ritson 以剪貼多種被遺棄的肢體印刷影像作為創作媒材，重新組合出動物或是抽象的形體，來檢視混合了神話與怪誕的，關於身體、形態學和文化的議題。物體一開始以變態的人類形象出現，Ritson以精密雕刻般的學院派技巧，巧妙地將原本無趣的物體變形為超脫定義之外的複雜組成。思考自然界中事物的轉變過程，以及我們是如何了解箇中奧妙，Ritson使用水晶，一種傳統被使用在科學領域裡的物質，創造出彷彿外星球的風景，並在整部片中引領以人聲旁白。就在物質與物質之間的關聯逐漸向我們顯現的同時，關於人工或自然的內在本質，我們對於人類感知自然的全是都是無效的，反倒接近於煉金術秘方或神祕占卜。

Examining issues relating to the body, morphology and culture infused with the mysterious and grotesque, Chris Ritson’s clipped images of the body from various discarded print media is reconfigured into animals or abstract shapes. What at first appears as perversions of the human form, Ritson’s detailed sculptural and collage techniques transmogrifies the formerly banal into complex formations that escape definition.

Contemplating the transformative processes in nature and the ways in which we come to understand them, Ritson uses crystals, a medium traditionally associated with science, to create an extraterrestrial-like landscape while initiating temporal narratives through video. As the relationship between the materials used begin to unfold before us, whether intrinsic to nature or artificial, our interpretation of how we perceive nature is negated and becomes analogous to alchemical secrecy or mystic divinations.

一顆顆雪白的雞蛋被逐一置入廢棄的微波爐中，堆疊成小山。在微波爐清脆的一個警示音後，蛋汁四溢橫流，不復完整。這件簡單的行為錄像作品似乎暗喻著；人類的過度人口繁衍，終將在一瞬間，觸發災難。

The snow-white eggs are placed one by one in a deserted microwave, piling up like a ill. In the wake of a bright beeping sound of the microwave, the egg liquid spurts everywhere, ended up recognizable shape. The simple documentary video seems to imply that with the overpopulation of human beings, the disaster is about to be triggered.

來到美國後，我還是一直被......殺

這件作品是由兩部影片所組成的系列行為錄像作品的其中一件，拍攝於美國巴爾的摩的多處公共空間。藝術家將印有中、英文「刑案現場禁止進入Crime Scene Do Not Cross」的黃色警戒線置於公共場合的電梯門上，自己則橫臥在地，仿如行案現場的受害者。藝術家以「偽刑案」的事件介入公共空間，創造出「意外」的效果。在路人目擊事件的驚詫中，自身也入鏡成為事件的一部分。

This video art work is one of a series of the project composed by two videos, shot respectively in the public places in Baltimore, MD, USA. The artists hang the police line that says “Crime Scene! Do Not Cross!” in front of the elevator, and he lied down in it as the victim. By creating “pseudo crime scene”, the artist involves himself astonished at the sight of the scene. They become part of the event as well.

瓦烏布日赫是波蘭西南部人口最多的城市，自1935年開始發展煤礦產業。90年代時，這座城市的礦區因為社會與經濟的變動而崩潰，當地的居民因此經歷了隨之而來的解雇潮及從中產生的社會危機感。在今日瓦市有了復甦跡象的同時，本片敘述遷移進這座城市空間的人們面對現實處境的景況。偏離實際發生的歷史細節與經濟剖析，本片描繪了一幅人類學的風景，以視覺與聽覺交錯著自然的聲響、談話、及樂音，呈現出時空的氛圍。

A former mining site since 1535, Walbrzych is the most populated city in south-western Poland. During the 1990s, the town’s coal mines were shut down due to societal and economic changes. As a result, the people of Walbrzych experienced a social crisis from the accompanying dismissal of hundreds of workers. While the city today show signs of renewal, this film illustrates the people moving within the city’s spaces confronting their reality. Digressing from historical and economic analysis on the details that took place, the film paints an anthropological portrait; a representation of a place and time filtered through visuals and musical scores of natural sounds, speeches and instrumental music.

重攝藝術家[藝術家與真實性]

藝術家無論在虛構還是傳記電影中總被描述得舉止脫俗，擁有轟轟烈烈的羅曼史、和酗酒自毀的失控行為。於是，我們很容易存有先入為主的概念，那就是創作總是含有某種迷思的指涉；例如所有藝術家都是利用某種媒材的畫家。這樣的刻板印象更確立了電影中對於視覺藝術家們的扭曲表述。

在本片中，大芬油畫村裡的複製畫家擷取出大約五十部不同的電影片段，例如《畫家波拉克》（2000）、《狂愛走一回》（1996）、《美麗壞女人》（1991）等，並拿來重新搬演。位於中國廣東深圳的大芬油畫村，是世界上最大的手繪油畫製造地區，供應全球大部分的西洋藝術市場。村裡的複製畫家變身為業餘演員，重新搬演多部關於藝術家的電影場景。大量製造大師油畫作品，伴隨使用對藝術家在電影中的刻板印象，交融成為一種新的敘述形式，創造出虛擬與紀實交疊的影片。我們如何看待這些們同時擁有視覺藝術家及中國複製畫家的「他者」身分？Pohle在本片中以這類文本上的變換，或者稱之為「重攝藝術家」的方式，對觀眾提出問題。

Artists are often portrayed having idiosyncratic behaviors, torrid love affairs, uncontrollable acts of inebriated self-destruction, or all of the aforementioned, whether in fictional or biopic films. Therefore, it is apparent that there is a preconceived notion where creative production signifies a mystification of one thing or another; such as all artists are painters by medium. These stereotypes reconfirm the failing representation of visual artists in film.

In this video, fragments from roughly fifty different films such as Pollock (2000), Surviving Picasso (1996), or La belle noiseuse (1991) are reenacted by copyist employed in the Oil Painting Village of Dafen. Situated in Shenzhen, China, Dafen is the world’s largest area of mass-produced handmade oil-on-canvas paintings supplying a global market sourced largely from Western art. The copyists in the Oil Painting Village take on different roles as amateur actors by re-enacting scenes from various films depicting artists. The mass production of master oil paintings coupled with the recurrent use of artist stereotypes in films intersects into forming a new narrative thus creating an overlap of fiction and documentary.

This shift of context, or “Reframing the Artist,” raises questions about how we
view the exotic “other” which is both the visual artist as well as the Chinese copyists.

Sascha Pohle is an Gernam artist living the Netherlands with an interest in our collective relation towards popular culture. Intrigued by seeing others re-enacting and himself as the re-enactor, Pohle investigates how images in the media interfere with our perspective of reality. By adapting elements from films and photographic imagery as references, the context of appropriation is reinterpreted through the artist’s own videos, drawings and prints.

新竹市影像博物館將於5月16日至5月30日，於影像博物館舉辦「城市游牧影展」新竹巡演活動。播映數十部探討當代重要議題的著名影片，及台灣新生代創作者的最新作品。題材從前衛文化思潮，環保，經濟，到第三世界獨立音樂，帶來有別於主流消費文明的清新視野，及深刻的感官震撼。現場並將邀請知名獨立樂團「農村武裝青年」舉辦小型演唱會。

5月16日晚間7時，將播映開幕片：由當代知名學者娜歐蜜•克蘭Naomi Klein同名著作改編的紀錄片《震撼主義》(THE SHOCK DOCTRINE)，探討極端資本主義在世界各地所引發的效應；

5月23日下午2時，將播映記錄台灣西海岸稀有物種白海豚的《2010年份台灣的極危險瀕臨絕種白海豚》、以及獲加拿大國際影展十大最佳影片的《救鯊行動》(Sharkwater)，探討因魚翅在中華料理佔有一席之地，而面臨過度捕殺的鯊魚生態現況。並邀請彰化縣環保聯盟理事長，生物學家蔡嘉陽先生，以及知名獨立樂團「農村武裝青年」主唱阿達，共同出席座談。阿達將於會後在現場開唱他為白海豚創作的最新原創歌曲。

Canadian singer-songwriter and long-time Taiwan resident Matthew Lien will be an honored guest at tonight's screening of THE COVE. Here's what he has to say about why he's coming:

“I am thrilled to attend the screening of "The Cove" in Taiwan.

For the first time in history, our children today are being born into the world with a global environmental crisis.

Last year, I became the father of a Taiwanese son. But I feel sad for him, because his Taiwan is facing a dismal future.

Here in Taiwan. my son's natural habitat is disappearing, pollution is destroying his beautiful ecosystems, and his ocean is becoming so acidic from CO2 that coral reefs can not survive.

But we -- the adults of today -- have time to make some important choices. One choice is whether we will save Taiwan's Pink Dolphins from extinction.

Thanks to documentaries like "The Cove", more people are becoming aware of the crisis facing our oceans. I hope showing this movie in Taiwan will help us decide that our children's Taiwan, and Taiwan Pink Dolhpins, are too precious to lose.

* 海生館的鯨豚從哪裡來？

保育人士努力救鯨豚，海生館卻鼓勵「獵捕」 : 全球海域每每發生鯨豚擱淺事件時，總有無數專業人士及義工投入救援，協助牠們回家與家人團聚，但同時卻有一群假學術之名的「商人、學者」，不斷迫害智慧極高、和人類同樣是哺乳動物的鯨豚，讓牠們遠離海洋家園，將牠們關進玻璃箱內，訓練牠們為人類進行「馬戲表演」。

* 台灣的極危險瀕臨絕種白海豚

媽祖魚（中華白海豚）是台灣海洋生態資源的重要指標，由於沿海環境日漸惡化，目前數量可能僅在60至90隻之間，已被國際自然保育聯盟IUCN列為瀕臨絕種的族群，每一隻白海豚的死亡都是台灣無可彌補的巨大損失。

3. 從《救鯊行動》看台灣的海鮮文化

* 魚翅文化背後的殘忍事實

世界自然保育聯盟（IUCN）有關鯊魚族群量的研究指出，現有111種鯊魚的生存已出現危機，如果人類持續過度捕撈漁業資源，2048年以後，人類將只剩水母可以食用。
魚翅係指鯊魚之背鰭、捕獲的鯊魚在割下魚鰭後，會將較無價值的魚身丟回海中，讓牠們在海裡慢慢流血、痛苦死亡，民眾根本無法確定所食用的魚翅，是屬於「全魚利用」還是以「活割魚鰭」方式取得．．．

* 最血腥的健康食品

台灣各大連鎖藥妝店及購物頻道大量行銷販售的海豹、海狗油和海狗鞭，全部來自被殘忍屠殺的野生小海豹。根據統計，2003～2009年間，台灣從加拿大輸入海洋哺乳類油脂(即海豹油)為431,364公斤，名列全球第4大、亞洲第3大；保守估計，台灣消費者近七年來等於間接屠殺了12萬隻美麗而無辜的海豹、海狗！

* Where does the National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium get its dolphins?

While conservations work to protect dolphins and whales, the National Aquarium promotes dolphin roundups. Dolphin roundups like that documented in THE COVE are no doubt senselessly destructive, but they can continue because ocean parks all over the world continue to purchase dolphins from them. Also, what are the ethical issues involved in keeping dolphins in small tanks and forcing them to live out their lives performing circus tricks?

* Taiwan's critically endangered dolphins

The Indo-European humpback dolphin, locally known as "Matsu's fish," is an important indicator of the health of coastal ecosystems. At present, there may be as few as 60-90 of these dolphins remaining, and they have been listed as "critically endangered" by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). What can be done to save this species from extinction?

3. 《SHARKWATER》and Local Seafood Culture

* The dark side of shark's fin soup

Research by the IUCN on shark populations indicates that 111 species of sharks can now be considered "endangered." It has been said that if current rates of overfishing continue, by 2048, the only think left in the ocean to catch will be jellyfish. The problem with shark finning, is that while shark's fins are highly valuable, their meat is often considered worthless. So sharks are caught, de-finned and tossed back into the sea, thereby destroying a predator at the top of the ocean food chain and ruining ecosystems on which we all depend.

* Environmentally Unfriendly Health Food

Seal oil is available in nearly every pharmacy in Taiwan as well as numerous mass market retailers, and all of it comes from hideous seal slaughters. Between 2003 and 2009, Taiwan has imported 431,364 kilos of seal oil (mainly in caplet form), the 4th largest total in the world! During this seven year period, Taiwanese are estimated to be responsible for the deaths of 120,000 seals.

4. Protecting the Ocean: What can I do?

Representatives from EAST and Matsu's Fish Conservation Union will report on recent activities by their organizations and how people can make a difference either in their everyday lives or participate in conservation activities.

跨國農企業到底有什麼問題？不僅讓糧價變得不穩，還掠取印度古老小麥品種，以生物剽竊、基因改造技術，讓種子也有了專利，迫使10多萬小農舉債而自殺！

紀錄片《牛糞傳奇》以印度知名的生態女性主義運動者、1993年另類諾貝爾獎得主范達娜˙席娃博士(Vandana Shiva)為主角；紀錄她長年對抗如孟山都(Monsanto)等跨國企業，並成立「九種基金會」(Navdanya)，證明社區的「種子銀行」可以讓小農免於跨國企業掌控種子，甚至可以培育種子的多樣性，發展出能因應全球暖化的好品種。

Her opponents call her “The Green Killer”. They gave her “The Bullshit Award” for sustaining poverty. Time magazine says she is a hero of our times, an icon for youngsters all over the world. Vandana Shiva is an Indian environmental activist and nuclear physicist, and in this film she ventures out from her organic farm to do battle with the likes of Coca Cola and Monsanto, a huge American agri-tech company that tries to patent an ancient Indian strain of wheat.

This documentary is based on the book of the same name by Naomi Klein (No Logo), author, activist and noted critic of globalization. It outlines Klein’s concept of “disaster capitalism,” in which government use or even create disasters to give corporations greater power over normal citizens. Klein shows that the tactic of “shocking” populations into accepting extreme levels of privatization and corporate control is an active goal of American foreign policy. She traces this strategy’s disasterous results from Pinochet’s coup in Chile to the two Iraq wars and everything in between. If you liked The Corporation or An Inconvenient Truth, this is definitely a film for you.

許雅婷是一位住在芝加哥的台灣導演而她最新作品〈放心漫舞〉則在描述另一位與老年癡呆症搏鬥的年邁導演Chris隨著事件漸漸失去控制電影本身的架構也如同Chris的記憶力一樣變得愈來愈模糊也逐漸崩成碎片。〈少年心〉是一部出人意料，令人感動的故事，其他的影片則是奇幻的動畫及實驗短片。

Hsu Ya-ting is a Taiwanese filmmaker living in Chicago, and her latest short, MIND DANCE, depicts Chris, an aged filmmaker, struggling with the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. As reality slips out of his control, Chris’ memories become disorganized and the film itself literally breaks into fragments. MY HEART, MY SOUL surprised us as a touching and unexpectedly serious drama. The rest of the program consists of charming animations and video experiments.

許芳宜是第一位受邀至紐約Baryshnikov藝術中心駐村的亞洲舞者而這支影片記錄著他在當時工作的狀態。此片不僅僅帶來令人屏息的舞蹈同時也帶來許芳宜在工作室排舞時對此藝術的最高精神，許芳宜著實是台灣藝文界最有才華的藝術家之一。這支紀錄片將會以不同版本撥映讓我們更加貼近她的世界。

Sheu Fang-yi was the first Asian artist ever invited for a residency at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York, and this film documents her working process there in creating a new performance. The filming not only shows some arrestingly beautiful dancing, it also shows Sheu and the choreographer Bulareyaung Pagarlava starting from the blank canvas of the practice studio to choreograph a work of the highest art. Sheu is truly one of Taiwan’s most stunning creative talents, and this documentary – shown here in a brand new version – is up to the task of displaying her somatic genius and bringing us into her world.

〈搶救烏山頭水庫〉在講一個驚人的真實事件: 一個垃圾掩埋場公司危害到台灣重要的水庫之一。〈希望〉除了有馬英九總統友情客串之外我們也會呈現當年被莫拉克颱風的大水及土石流沖毀的小學重建。〈Silence〉是一部告訴我們何為報章雜誌報導好處的冰島短片，〈誰在乎真實〉則是在反諷G8高峰會，接著〈熱舞天堂〉帶來一個競選期間無家可歸的流浪漢穿梭在台北接頭的故事。節目將會由幾支大自然動畫做開場。

LET’S FIGHT FOR WATER is about a startlingly real issue: a landfill that threatens to contaminate one of Taiwan’s main mountain reservoirs. HOPE, guest starring president Ma Ying-jeou, meanwhile documents the reconstruction of an elementary school following the floods and mudslides of Typhoon Morokot. SILENCE is an Icelandic short that tells us what newspaper reporting is good for, and WHO CARES ABOUT THE REAL spoofs the G8. HEAVENLY DANCE follows a homeless man through Taipei at election time, and the program begins with a couple animations, NATURE and UNDERSTATEMENT.

在緬甸，加州聯合石油公司和法國道達爾石油公司為保護該公司的油管工程，僱用緬甸軍政府的軍隊，在油管區進行非人道行為：武力脅迫、施虐及強暴當地居民。緬甸人權民運人士卡索瓦Ka Hsaw Wa多次進出該地區，冒著生命危險，記錄下遭到政府加害的人民慘況和種族屠殺現場。他拍攝的影片間接促成美國史上第一起跨國控告人權侵害的訴訟案，這起官司纏訟將近十年後，卡索瓦以及他的族人們終於獲得平反。

This documentary investigates the human rights abuses associated with the construction of an oil pipeline in Burma funded by western oil companies, UNOCAL and TOTAL. It is also the story of the one-man mission of Burmese activist Ka Hsaw Wa, a former jungle warrior wanted by authorities both in Myanmar and Thailand. Ka risks his life in video-taped border crossings to document burned out villages and scenes of genocide, all funded by US oil companies and executed by the Myanmar’s junta government. His footage and reports result in a landmark court case in the US. It is the first time foreign nationals bring a class action lawsuit against US companies – and win!

〈揉〉是一部挺詭異的實驗動畫片，〈映〉挺像是一部改編自西班牙詩人Julio Cortazar作品的影片倘述孤寂酒精友誼及死亡，〈嘎轟！〉裡有蘋果，〈Greedy〉則有黑幫，〈Fuhrerbunker〉似乎有希特勒。〈愛在森林邊境〉是一部關於二次大戰後,共產崛起期間,在馬來西亞的青春與愛情小品。

ROUE is experimental animation at its weirdest. THE REFLECTION is a sort of poem on loneliness, alcohol, friendship, death adopted from writing of Julio Cortazar. CAJON! has apples, GREEDY has gangsters, and FUHRERBUNKER has Hitler (sort of). CUL DE SAC FOREST is a wonderful period piece about youth and love in Malaysia just after World War II during communist uprisings.

近十年的這場巴勒斯坦居民和以色列士兵的衝突戰爭，仍然於加薩走廊持續進行著。

這部影片是數月前才由各國的激進份子發表的，他們試圖打破這場僵局，並企圖揭穿這些倚著和平口號，實為殘暴鎮壓的虛偽行動。在2008年12月與2009年一月份，以色列強制命令所有國外的救援組織和觀察員徹離加薩走廊，發動為期21天的「鑄鉛行動」轟炸。影片的製片者，也是轟炸中的倖存者，加入巴勒斯坦救護車的司機所組成的自願單位，他們參與以色列炸彈攻擊中那些危險、致命且不受人注目的人道救援任務。這是一個真實且正在進行的世界，一個讓製片者以及你我都無法容忍的世界。

The conflict in the Gaza Strip between Palestinian locals and the Israeli army has been going on for decades. This film was released only months ago by a group of international activists bent on finding a way through the impasse and holding up a mirror to atrocities committed in the name of “peace.” In December 2008 and January 2009, Israeli forces instructed all foreign aid organizations and observers to vacate Gaza for the 21-day bombardment of Operation Cast Lead. The filmmakers however remained, embedding themselves with a volunteer unit of Palestinian ambulance drivers, who go into the teeth of the Israel bombs and bullets on a deadly and thankless humanitarian mission. It is a situation, which the filmmakers find, is simply unacceptable.

本片跟隨著國際知名DJ Wesley Pentz(或稱 Diplo, 你們還記得嗎？)，冒險深入龍蛇雜處之處，探究音樂和舞蹈現象。Pentz是發現發現並推揚 "baile funk"(里約放克)音樂的功臣，並透過CD的發行在歐美各地推廣。這樣的音樂起源於暴力又貧困的環境，卻使的它更為裸露，存粹並直刺人心。這部紀錄片試著以一個故事架構來探討情、愛、貧窮與自尊，並用里約熱內盧這些最被邊緣化的人物來作詮釋。當然還有英雄反派兩立的情結，以及那遏制不住的跳舞癮！

Deep in the slums (favelas) of Rio de Janeiro, a unique party scene is being built around remixes of 80s American dance beats and local Brazilian samba music. The documentary follows internationally acclaimed DJ, Wesley Pentz (aka Diplo) as he ventures into gangland territory, exploring both a music and dance phenomena. Pentz is now credited with discovering the genre of “baile funk,” and popularizing it in the US and Europe through CD releases. Born of one of the most violent and poorest places on earth, the music is raw and personal. This documentary tells stories of sex, love, poverty, and pride amongst Rio's most marginalized people. It follows heroes and villains, and the irresistible urge to dance.

In this documentary, the cast of musicians, producers and industry executives weighing in on the issue ranges from funk legend George Clinton to Nirvana’s producer Steve Albini to copyright lawyers. Despite the serious issue at hand, this is truly a doc for the music junkie. Scenes show DJs playing mixes and mashups, and these are dissected in split-screen montages to show how the original music is sampled, cut and refashioned to suit new tastes. One extensive thread is the case of Clyde Stubblefield, James Brown’s former drummer, whose drum solo on the tune “Funky Drummer” has become THE MOST SAMPLED beat in hip hop history. Other musicians and groups to appear include DJ Qbert, Public Enemy, De La Soul, Chibo Matto, Paul Miller aka DJ Spooky tha Subliminal Kid and many others.

在假如我是真的裡,一位外科醫生請電影工作者紀錄下他結束自己生命前的最後幾天因為他得了不治之症愛滋病但結局卻急轉直下出乎大家的預料，〈The Hobby〉一部同樣詭譎的法國片述說著如何習以承擔生活，〈極光〉就像環保主題的「樂一通(華納兔寶寶) 」緊接著我們會連續播放兩部衝浪的影片。

In ON/OFF, a doctor tells a filmmaker he has AIDS and asks him to document his final days before he commits suicide, and then the film gets seriously weird. Filmmaker Rob Stewart is a free diver and self-professed shark lover, who has seen shark populations worldwide decimated. The film, named one of “Canada’s Top 10” at the Toronto International Film Festival, estimates around 100 million sharks are being harvested each year, and many of them simply have their fins cut off and are thrown back into the ocean. Shark fins feed a growing trade in shark’s fin soup, a delicacy in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Taiwan and an illegal trade which Stewart discovers is being controlled by the Taiwanese mafia as far away as central America. In his quest to stop illegal shark fishing, he joins the crew of Sea Shepherd, and infamous activist group known for battling illegal fishing and whaling operations on the high seas. Together, they enter into dangerous confrontations at sea and even face jail in the courts of Costa Rica.

For years, local activist groups have been fighting to save a critically endangered population of Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins in the Taiwan Strait. Industrial pollution is threatening to kill off these pink dolphins, known locally as “Matsu’s Fish.” This film, a Taiwan premier, asks the question: when will Taiwan start to take its environment seriously?

是今年2010奧斯卡最佳紀錄片得主，也同時贏得各大影展餘50多個獎項，包含日舞影展觀眾票選最佳紀錄片獎。本片令人憤慨的調查之旅將帶我們進入一個持續進行幾十年，世界上最令人髮指之一的綠色和平犯罪活動的危險海灣。

美國60年代當紅電視影集《飛寶》的海豚訓練師－瑞克•歐巴瑞Ric O'Barry帶領一個由社運份子和潛水精英所組成的團隊潛入日本和歌山縣太地町海灣，為揭發海豚圍捕真相，無視於警方的警告及肢體恐嚇。因為在這裡，每年有2萬3千隻的海豚遭到屠殺。這段日官方不斷反覆辯稱「為科學研究」並視為惡夢的鯨豚大屠殺的恐怖影片片段，目前已呈現給國際捕鯨委員會的當權者。

然而，此片之所以選擇將日本太地町的屠殺公諸於世，最大的擔憂及因素也是我們如何因過度漁獵而造成海洋生態滅絕。如同瑞克•歐巴瑞Ric O'Barry在片中所說：「若是我們無法改變什麼，那也不必理會其他更重要的事件了，因為根本就沒有希望。」

The Cove

The Cove won the 2010 Oscar for Best Documentary, in addition to over 50 other film festival awards, including Audience Choice for Best Documentary at Sundance. The film is an investigative thrill ride, leading us into a dangerous natural cove where one of the world’s worst environmental crimes has been taking place for decades. Ric O'Barry, the dolphin trainer from the TV show Flipper, leads a team of divers and activists who defy police warnings and physical threats to shed light on a dolphin roundup in Taiji, Japan, where 23,000 dolphins are slaughtered each year. Chilling footage from this annual slaughter is presented to the authorities at an International Whaling Commission, to the horror of Japanese officials who continue to defend the slaughter of whales for “scientific purposes.” The greater concern of the film, however, is how we are killing the oceans through overfishing. The reason they choose to make their point in Taiji, Japan is, as O’Barry says in the film, “If we can’t fix that, forget about the bigger issues. There’s no hope.”

堂堂邁入第九屆的影展今年依舊缺你不可！新年新氣象，今年獎金總額提高到新台幣15,000元，各位影音創作好漢們，快點將手上的大作整理一番，趕在截止日前踴躍的投件。別忘了，截止日期分別為 2010年3月1日(國外徵片與40分鐘以上之長片)；2010年3月10日(國內徵片與短片)，影展將於4月底在台北舉行，隨後巡展至新竹。

近年來的各種氣候變遷異象，對整個星球上的生態影響甚鉅，去年年底才在丹麥哥本哈根舉行完的UN Climate Change Conference也是爭議重重，因此，今年我們選定<環境>作為2010年度主題。不過，身為台灣唯一的地下影展且能將視野侷限？所以各種題材的大作我們都歡迎啦！徵選類型不限國際，可以是實驗性藝術片、劇情片、紀錄片、動畫、喜劇、有關政治、音樂、性別、社會專題、滑板、衝浪…只要你想的到，拍得出來的，快把它投遞到遊牧影展，與來自各地的參展者、參觀者一起分享吧！徵片種類的項目如下：

－短片，就是剛才列出的各種題材，像往年一樣都歡迎您投來
－長片，40分鐘以上的影片要早一點送來，截止日期為3月1日
－錄像藝術 (video art)，我們計畫將與一個新開幕的藝術空間，合作辦展覽與錄像藝術的趴替

Taiwan's indie showcase for short films, docs and video art!

The Urban Nomad Film Fest is now accepting entries for its ninth annual festival, to take place in Taipei and Hsinchu starting April 30, 2010. There are NT$15,000 in prizes for the best short local films. The entry deadline is March 10 for short films, and March 1 for films over 40-minutes or coming from outside Taiwan.

This year we're getting with the environmental program, so we'll feature a program on the environment. There are just too many great new documentaries on this topic, and we'll debut several of them here in Taiwan. Otherwise, we will present the best new short films from Taiwan and cool-wierd ideas in film from the rest of the world. We also have a new category for 1-3 minute kuso films (kuso is Japanese for "shit" but implies a sense of clowning around.) What are we looking for? Films that are: extreme, socially concerned, political, sex-related, documentary, rock 'n roll, weird, funny, skate/surf, experimental, etc., etc. This year we also have something special in mind for the video art section. We'll also give some kick-ass parties and the best alternative film-watching environment in Taiwan.

International Applications and Features: Every year we invite several international feature-length films and documentaries and 1-2 directors for visits to Taipei. We are especially interested in cutting edge documentaries that would not otherwise be seen in Taiwan. We are looking for films that represent underground, indie or progressive currents, and we are willing to indulge the experimental. Films that fit this year's eco-focus theme are also naturally welcome, as are music films.
DEADLINE FOR FEATURE-LENGTH FILMS: MARCH 1, 2010.

Rules and Suggestions:
- Films under 15 minutes stand a greater chance of getting accepted.
- No more than 12 feature-length films are accepted each year, on average (NEW!!)
- Priority will be given to films with both Chinese and English: in other words, Chinese language films should have English subtitles, and all other films should have Chinese subtitles.
- Films should be produced no earlier than 2008.
- Do not submit the same film you submitted in previous years.
- You must fill out one application form per film you submit.
- Each film should be on its own, separate DVD.
- You can send more than one DVD (and application form) per package.
- It is easiest for us to receive regular or registered mail via the post office.

If your film is accepted, you will be entitled to FREE ENTERY to all Urban Nomad events, including screenings and parties. Basically, we want to hang out with you. Also, if you can speak at the screening of your film, that would be awesome!

Volunteers:
We need translators (English to Chinese) for film subtitles and event Staff for screenings and other events. Send us an email with VOLUNTEER in the subject line. We will contact you 1-2 months before the festival to check your availability.

陳瀅如與洪子健是一對跨領域的藝術創作團隊。

他們的實驗電影與紀錄片在世界各地展出，包含巴黎的龐畢度中心（Centre Pompidou) 、西班牙的蘇菲亞王妃藝術中心（Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía‏) 、舊金山國際影展 (SIFF)，鹿特丹國際影展，以及阿姆斯特丹國際紀錄片電影節等。從舊金山到柏林到台北，這對合伙導演花了十年多諷刺探討世界各地的歷史，作品與一般嚴肅或形式化的實驗片完全不同，雖然主題極為沈重，包含歷史的真實性或理論性的問題，但他們的影片終究是透過具體的故事與情況而扣人心弦，有時也引人發笑。

本次挑選的六支短片題材，包含希特勒死亡紀念日、二次大戰日本在中國使用生化武器的後續，以及西方白人優惠的性資本（sexual capital) 等主題。

This Praha Erotica documentary series is not only a behind-the-scenes story of the porn industry in Prague, Czech Republic. With this image montage, I try to question the human side of this trade. After all, for those actors and actress going to the set and having sex with someone they hardly know as a daily/weekly job is certainly far beyond the imagination of most of us. This human side of this business intrigues me, but I’m not trying to make any conclusions here. Instead, I focus on what’s happening on what’s behind the cameras. Chen Yin-ju and James T. Hong are an interdisciplinary art team, producing installations, performances, and film and video works. They have exhibited in the Pompidou Center in Paris and Riena Sofia Museum in Madrid and shown films in the San Francisco International Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival and International Documentary Festival, Amsterdam. They are best known for experimental documentaries portray some of histories deepest ironies in a style that is highly watchable and often funny, despite the grave overtones of their larger message. The six films selected for this program range across the anniversary of Hitler’s death, Japanese biological warfare in WWII, the sexual capital of the white man and other fun topics. This Praha Erotica documentary series is not only a behind-the-scenes story of the porn industry in Prague, Czech Republic. With this image montage, I try to question the human side of this trade. After all, for those actors and actress going to the set and having sex with someone they hardly know as a daily/weekly job is certainly far beyond the imagination of most of us. This human side of this business intrigues me, but I’m not trying to make any conclusions here. Instead, I focus on what’s happening on what’s behind the cameras. It seems to be a flow mixing the most primitive human desires and also the most mysterious weaknesses of mankind.

This film has been selected for the 2009 Transmediale – Festival for Art and Digital Culture, Berlin and is in the collection of the Archive of Video Art from Eastern Europe. Simon’s short film Evaporation (2008) showed in numerous film festivals in Europe and Urban Nomad 2009.

SIMON CHANG is a 31-year-old Taiwanese photographer, filmmaker and writer living in Prague since 2003. Over the last six years, he has used film and still black-and-white photographs to collect stories from eastern Europe, including the prize winning series “They/Oni,” a documentary about Bohnice mental hospital in Prague. He applies a rigorous documentary style to his subjects, which have also included Czech huntsmen, a traditional Czech circus family, a remote Roman village in Hungry, and most recently a documentary about the Czech Republic porn industry.

Simon was born in Taipei and began acting in TV commercials as a high school student, appearing in ads for Nissan, Mitsubishi, MTV Taiwan and others. He majored in fine arts at Fujen Catholic University, and received local prizes for short films he directed. For more, see: www.simon.chinito.com

西方資本主義歷史的符號象徵。科技的發展過程中，科技應是資本累積與戰爭的服侍者，但在石油世紀與戰爭的當下，科技卻代表了資本主義。此片靈感來自於俄國藝術家馬勒維奇提出的「絕對主義」(Suprematism)與當今的石油戰爭。作品中的影像符號適於任何畫質解析度的螢幕，大至戲院小至手機或iPod螢幕。

《希特勒地堡：遊客、新納粹，或是… 4月30日2009年》

本片紀錄在二次大戰期間，研發生化武器的日本731部隊所留下的遺毒，以及被波及的被害者。

遷徙與移民是事實亦是命途。美國白人的逐漸消失有可能終結美國強權，西方世界也許只剩下歐洲與其殖民地。沒有了美國，所謂的西方只剩下歐亞大陸末端的一小角。〈全面動員〉是一部諷刺、誇張的實驗片，利用集體奮鬥的螞蟻作為隱喻。它也許影射美國白人的隱懮，又或許是直接陳述事實，端看觀眾如何詮釋。

《財‧縫》（2008/8分鐘/陳瀅如）
一位台灣母親日夜辛勞地為貴婦人裁製衣服賺錢，以支付女兒在美就學的昂貴學費。全片以一通討論信用卡開支的母女越洋電話為對白，影像則呈現詳細的縫紉工作過程，企圖表達傳統亞洲父母為了孩子無怨無悔的奉獻。

《台北101：病徵紀實》（2004/23分鐘/洪子健）
一位亞裔美國人在台灣如同朝聖般的尋根之旅中，看到世界最高的建築–台北101；他意外的發現台灣的文化意識被美國文化明顯而強勢的侵略，並沾污成為全球化、美國化、資本主義化、以及跨越國際的白人強權。

Chen Yin-ju and James T. Hong are an interdisciplinary art team, producing installations, performances, and film and video works. They have exhibited in the Pompidou Center in Paris and Riena Sofia Museum in Madrid and shown films in the San Francisco International Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival and International Documentary Festival, Amsterdam. They are best known for experimental documentaries portray some of histories deepest ironies in a style that is highly watchable and often funny, despite the grave overtones of their larger message. Films selected for this program range across the anniversary of Hitler’s death, Japanese biological warfare in WWII and the sexual capital of the white man.

A Symbolic History of Kapital. Inspired by Kasimir Malevich's minimalist artworks and the struggles for resources in the age of peak oil, Suprematist Kapital was born of the want to create a visual artwork that could be displayed on many different-sized mediums regardless of resolution, e.g., theater screens, mobile devices, ipod's, etc. Where once technology as progress was an end in itself, it became the handmaiden of capitalist accumulation and war, and is now a form of capital itself in the age of peak oil.

Wounds That Never Heal
(2009/23min/ Chen Yin-ju and James T. Hong)
A short profile of the victims and lasting legacy of Unit 731 -- a World War II, Japanese, biological warfare facility. Following the first bombing of Tokyo by US forces, the Japanese punished entire villages and counties in China where the bombers crash landed by spraying diseases from crop-duster-like airplanes. The effects can still be seen on the bodies of those living in the region today.

Total Mobilization (2005/8min/Chen Yin-ju and James T. Hong)
Migration is fact; immigration is destiny. The disappearance of White America could mean the end of the United States of America, as we have known it. The West could be reduced to Europe and few lightly populated overseas European settler countries. Without America, the West becomes a miniscule and declining part of the world’s population on a small and inconsequential peninsula at the extremity of the Eurasian land mass. TOTAL MOBILIZATION is an evocative, ironic, and bombastic experimental video that ostensibly focuses on a group of struggling ants. The open-minded will see it as a trenchant metaphor of nativist fears; the closed-minded will see it as a document of the truth.

Transactions (2008/8min/Chen Yin-ju)
This video shows one example of how Asian parents devote themselves to their grown children. Here a mother works tirelessly for rich clients so she can send her daughter to study in the USA. The montage illustrates the detailed procedure of dressmaking, and the phone conversation covers credit card expenses, converted from US dollars to Taiwanese yuan.

Taipei 101: A Travelogue of Symptoms (2004/23min/James T. Hong)
In TAIPEI 101: A TRAVELOGUE OF SYMPTOMS an Asian American encounters the semblant operations of Americanization on a pilgrimage to Taiwan. He discovers that Taipei 101 -- currently the world's tallest building -- Taiwan's culture, and his own consciousnesses are indelibly marked by globalization, America, capitalism, and the transnational power of white men.

特別放映《水乳交融》~~ 這個很色的嘍 ^^

大家好，我們遊牧影展突然有個比較特別的機會，這個星期六晚上8點能給大家播放一部由美國藝術家 Lawrence Weiner 拍的22分鐘短片電影《水乳交融》 (Water in Milk Exists)，影片製作人平川典俊會在現場談談影片內容與自己的攝影創作。美國的重要藝術雜誌 Art Forum 如此評論《水乳交融》：「這部非敘述性A片充滿一群20幾歲者彼此操，吮，弄，手淫等行為，全部發生在紐約瑞士當代藝術研究院的Soho區空間與唐人街的攝影棚裡。在影片裡，激起性慾望的色情場面以及關於 "各人對現實的定義” 和 “弦理論” 的冗長而勉強的哲學想法一直交替，就像導演一直在玩一個讓我們感到激動的開關，性慾望的引起又開了又關了。」（閱讀原文）這麼說呢，大家大概已經明白，如果A片、gay片、手淫、口交會冒犯到你，那這場放映會就不是你的菜。影片會有中文字幕（現在正很趕地做），放映前後也有中文的解釋。

若你沒聽過平川典俊，他來自日本，住在紐約，是一位國際藝術圈子裡有知名度的藝術家，最有 ~~嗯，或許可以說他具有 “名氣” 的攝影系列是由典俊要求很多女生是否可以借用她們的相機來拍她們的裙底風光而創作出來。這次的活動在非常廟藝文空間舉行，為呼應Chi-Wen 畫廊於9月12日舉辦的平川典俊個展 UNFOLD UNIVERSE，展覽於當日下午 3-6點開幕。放映會沒有入場費，但觀眾至少消費一杯飲料。總的來說這是瞭解古怪的平川典俊談論他的藝術，以及他如何遊走在情色邊緣的難得機會。

Water In Milk Exists: 9/12 @ VT Art Salon

Hi everybody. We quite suddenly were presented with the opportunity to show you something rather weird, a 22-minute film by American artist Lawrence Weiner called WATER IN MILK EXISTS. It happens this Saturday at 8pm, and the film's producer Noritoshi Hirakawa will be there to talk about both the film and his own work. Noritoshi is an interesting character, an internationally known art photographer who is famous for taking pictures of women's underwear. The screenign will take place at VT Art Salon, and admission only requires that you buy one drink.

But before you come, we should probably mention that if you are easily offended by porn, gay porn, blow jobs, or abstruse philosophy, this just might not be for you. Here is how one of the world's top art magazines Art Forum reviewed the film: "This nonnarrative porn is full of twenty-somethings fucking, sucking, playing, and masturbating in the Swiss Institute’s SoHo loft and a Chinatown photo studio. Scenes alternate between often-thrilling hardcore porn and contrived and tedious philosophical musings about 'personal definitions of reality' and 'string theory.' Like a switch flicked too soon, stimulation teasingly turns on and off." (Read the entire review.) Also, the film is in English with Chinese subtitles. Discussions and an introduction to the film will be bilingual in English and Chinese.

This screening of Water in Milk Exists will be held in conjunction with Noritoshi's exhibition UNFOLD UNIVERSE at Chi-Wen Gallery, which opens earlier the same day from 3-6pm. This is a rare chance to hear the often outlandish Noritoshi discuss his art and its relation to pornography.

Even when we hate cosplay, we LOVE cosplay!! This section includes short films by Mia Chen and two other directors. The cool thing about Mia Chen's shorts is that even though she comes at Cosplay from an academic background, she stays away from analysis and heavy theoretical framework that would kill her subject, and instead focuses on getting into the heads of the kids she meets. What Chen does is show the imaginative process of these teens go as they dress like their cartoon heroes.

來自網絡的 Flash 動畫次文化年輕創作者，卜樺住北京，曾參與過兩屆城市遊牧影展。因為她的作品太吊了，這也不是說我們喜歡她而已，2008年她參與釜山雙年展與上海雙年展亞洲的兩個大雙年展，最近大陸歌手左小詛咒也請她做一個新MV，受藝術與獨立音樂各種肯定，所以這次很高興能與卜樺合作在 Art Taipei 2009，做這個特別的節目。以下是卜樺的一個簡單訪問，讓大家更了解她的作品：

妳作品裡面的這個少女生是妳嗎？
一般看完我的系列數字繪畫的人都會說：這不就是你嘛。我開始覺得她不像，直到後來給她的表情畫得很“超然”，沒什麼笑容，我突然覺得她有了生命力。

她住在怎麼樣的世界？
基本上就是我每個階段的所謂“精神世界”，野生的，懷舊的，超現實的景象，表現的是現實中的感受和人的心性。

妳為甚麼喜歡用Flash來創作？
說到底想要的東西還是“自由”，這是我關於人生的答案。做“藝術”好像是我能想到的最好的途徑了，而做Flash是我能想到的做“藝術”的最好的途徑之一。到後來一切都是關乎精神層面的。但是獨立並不等於自由，獨立的人很多，自由的人很少。怎麼樣才算自由的人？我的答案也很簡單：做一個無所畏懼的人，那你就是自由的。自由相伴著真正的喜悅。

對現在的年輕人，網絡算不算重要發表的頻道？對妳自己呢？
當然很重要了，改變新一代人類的處世性格。我很討厭出去“兜售”自己，現在不用了。很多人只需要在家做喜歡的事情，剩下的就是別人來找到他/她。

Bu Hua got her chops in the China's flash animation web sites, a free-trade zone for ideas that's a universe unto itself. Even though we have been showing her work for the last two years, it's not just that we love her stuff. In 2008, she was invited to show works in the Pusan and Shanghai Biennials, and she has lately been comissioned to create a music video for legendary Beijing indie singer Zuoxiao Zuzhou. To help you understand Bu Hua's works a bit more by letting her speak for herself, here is a short interview conducted specially for this exhibition:

Who is the girl in your animations? Is it you?
Lots of people see the figure in my digital drawings and ask, "Isn’t that you?" I’m starting to think she’s not. Lately, the expression I’ve been giving her has been really detached, with no smile. Now, suddenly I feel like she’s taking on a life of her own.

What kind of world does this girl live in?
Basically it's what you might call the different phases of my own psychic world. The scenes are wild, nostalgic and surreal. They express feelings and states of mind from real life.

Why do you like to use Flash to make art?
My take on life is that the thing I'm really after is freedom. Making "art" is the best route for taking me there, and using Flash is one of the best routes to making "art" I've found. In the end, everything is about states of mind. But independence is not the same as freedom. There are many people who are independent, but few who are free. So what does it mean for a person to be free? My answer is simple: To fear nothing is to be free. And the companion of freedom is true happiness.

Is the Internet an important place for young people to express themselves? Is it important for you?
Of course it's really important. For the new generation, it's changed the nature of our place on earth. I really hate to go out and "sell myself," and now I don't have to. A lot of people can just stay home and do the things they like to do, and as for the rest, people will come find them.

The Yes Men are a duo of media jamming activists, who among other things, have posed as representative of Dow Chemicals in an interview with BBC World, then told the world they would put US$12.1 billion to compensation and cleanup of the 1984 Bhopal gas disaster, the worst industrial accident in history. The Yes Men have two feature films to date （check the trailer for the new one below). For this segment, they've given us a selection of rare clips and outtakes, some of which have never been seen before. We've made a mashup of these, throwing in a couple of surf/skate videos for flavor.

After riding an inflatable raft and losing his tuxedo at the Urban Nomad 2009 party in April, he went on to play 36 shows in 36 days touring America. Now he's ready for one more in Taiwan. 『鯨豚』是一個來自舊金山的ＤＶＤ雜誌系列。以鯨魚和海豚兩個物種混合而生的例子來命名，這短片雜誌代表的就是一種新世界的合成。牠最棒的是內容都是在於純粹娛樂，與使命性的訊息傳達中取得的良好平衡。這個節目裡的影片將從北極光，到瑞典人對生活的倦怠，一路走到如天方夜譚的民主中國，等等。

Wholphin is a DVD magazine published out of San Francisco that is named after a new species of animal, one created after a whale and a dolphin, well, you know....drink too much champagne and listen to Barry White. So this magazine for short films was born, like its namesake, as a hybrid for a new world. Quite wonderfully, the contents of each issue ride a fine line between delivering solid entertainment and responsible information. Films in this program range from life weariness in Sweden to solar flares and democracy in China.

極度血腥暴力與真實的痛苦!　導演Matt Luem和Greg Fiering耗時七年拍攝，紀錄美國洛城青少年的後院摔角文化，描述他們如何組社區摔角聯盟，探討他們為何感受到站在自作拳擊台上才是真實，其他的一切都是假的。三十年前，加州充滿心懷不滿青年組群，變成朋克於滑板文化的出生地，現在又興起後院摔跤，是新時代的成年儀式或自滅的衝動？友誼、種族、鐵釘、鐵絲網與碎燈泡，再說一次！弟弟不要學，哥哥有練過！

In the backyards of suburban Los Angeles, teens like Andre “Youth Suicide” Verdun and Chris “Mr Fantastic” Jackson hurl each other across makeshift wrestling rings littered with thumbtacks, fluorescent tubes and barbed wire. The blood is real and so is the pain. Director Matt Leum and Greg Fiering spent seven years chronicling the rise and fall of amateur backyard wrestling leagues like the EEW (Evil Empire Wrestling). They followed what would eventually be seen as a YouTube phenomenon by Time magazine and ABC Television, describing kids on the suburban fringe in a search for meaning, friendship and the adrenaline rush of falling off a house or a reckless run through razor wire. Do we need to say…. Don’t try this at home.

This is the latest banned political documentary from Singapore, and one of the activist filmmakers behind it has been financially bankrupted by the government and is not allowed to leave Singapore. The film looks unflinchingly at Singapore’s founding ruler, Lee Kuan Yew, meticulously detailing the history of how he subjugated the city state under the guise of democracy.

The panel will cover how films and filmmakers hope to affect change in different parts of Asia and will focus on three films in this year’s Urban Nomad program, Chan’s “Good Luck, Comrades!”, “One Nation Under Lee,” and the Chinese film about the Sichuan earthquake, “Who Killed Our Children?” The discussion will be chaired by writer and human rights advocate TC Chang and include Hong Kong filmmaker Fredie Chan.

We asked Wholphin for a program of party films, and they gave us Heavy Metal Jr., which is about a group of British pre-teens who form a death metal band called Hatred, while their parents drive them to band practice and generally clap along. It is one of those stories that shows that life is stranger than fiction. That’s right, it’s a documentary. There’s also films about drunk bees and other crazy shit. Once you watch these, you will be ready for the bands.

This documentary is the record left by seven citizen reporters from Hong Kong, the Toya7dogs, on their trip to protest the 2008 G8 Summit in Lake Toya, Japan. Upon landing in Japan, they were detained by the Japanese government, an action that made papers throughout Asia. The film follows their story and that of other protestors. In this era, anti-globalization is picking up steam as an international movement. This film looks at how it’s taking shape in Asia and what it can accomplish.

就像蘇格拉底講的，未經檢討反省的生命是沒有生存價值的生命，這些短片是真實的血淚紀錄。「山上」描寫一位泰雅族青年，出獄後，嚮往回到打獵生活，卻幾經波折，現實的嚴峻考驗不斷逼迫而來。「陳跡」1949年大陳島撤退的第一手知料。「莫比烏斯」敘述變性後，如何從新面對人生，也讓別人來接受自己。另外也探討流浪狗議題，人們上班的行程，等等。

That’s right, the unexamined life and all that. These homegrown documentaries are important. Hla Huy is a wonderful documentary on an aboriginal youth who tries to recreate a life for himself after getting out of jail. His dream is simply to hunt, but in this day and age, life is never that simple. Other stories give first-hand accounts of the 1949 immigration from the Dachen Islands, life after switching genders, the stray dog problem and going to work.

無常的天災與人為的失誤造成四川大地震震央一所學校的傾塌並奪走無數孩童生命，究竟真相為何？盤劍林導演用鏡頭展現中國百姓備受壓抑的憤怒絕望與未找出的真相．此過程中我們也能感受到中國人的一種新精神，這不只是老百姓對共產黨和人民共和國願意表示懷疑，更事他們現在相信真相有不可否認的價值，是值得仔細檢查每個所謂的實事與說法。

A feature documentary exploring both the terrible tragedy and the human error that led to the death of 300 school children in China’s Sichuan Province. The camera provides eyewitness evidence that school officials “locked” their students in classrooms during a rest period when the powerful earthquake struck. Already condemned by building officials, the school crumbled to the ground with few managing to escape. In the aftermath of this tragedy, parents bury their only children in shallow graves near the school, and search for a way to express their grief and anger over the event. This controversial documentary nakedly pursues the truth about this incident without fear of government censorship.

Who says foreigners just teach English? High salaries and ample leisure also leave time for filmmaking. Here, Matt Finlin delivers his paean to the betel nut girl, “The Glass Box.” There is hyperactive surf editing from Jason Sedor and a hilarious all-night bender by Shawn McClelland in “Santa’s Shitty Night.” But the program is not totally restricted to the confines of the Shida White Ghetto. There’s also Urs P. Twellmann’s animation from Switzerland and Jaco Yu’s poetic surf film “Wave Man.” And “Please Insert Coin” is a fantastic doc that goes deeper into the subculture of Dream Catcher players than we ever thought possible.

This feature documentary film traces the life of Bob Moog (1934-2005) who invented the modern day synthesizer and was a pivotal figure in the history of electronic music, shaping musical styles ranging from Funk to New Wave to Techno. Moog’s story is told here by following he talks with and watches performances by a slew of legendary musicians, including Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman, Bernie Worrell, Money Mark, DJ Spooky and Mix Master Mike (Beastie Boys). Early on, Moog was captivated by electronic sounds and spent much of his life building synthesizers. The first models were as big as telephone switchboards and required hours of set up. The original soundtrack features Moog music by Stereolab, The Album Leaf, Bernie Worrel & Bootsy Collins, Tortoise and many others.

虛構的那種怪味 Strange as Fiction
「百獄」的故事處於一個未來的高雄，就是那種世界末日之後的場景。其實，跟現在的高雄差沒有很多，有一點可怕．．．更真實的是「拐彎的夏天」，故事中的幾位青年朋友混到棒球場，吸K他命，被警察發現而抓了，可是警察也是青年之一的老爸。
Yup, head straight into weirdness, this program is all about the dark side. In some films the action is figurative, as in “Nirvana,” where Kaohsiung is turned into a post-apocalyptic city of ghosts. (Talk about hitting the nail on the head!) But there’s also realism. In “The Twisted Summer,” we get a kid who snorts too much ketamine and gets caught by his dad, who’s a cop.

《第二人生》（Second Life）是一款多媒體、即時互動的虛擬世界（virtual world）線上遊戲。這個遊戲沒有打怪、練功、奪寶、關卡，也沒有人來替你設定任務與難易度。當林登實驗室設定規則後，所有你所看見的事物都是使用者自己創造的內容（UGC, User Generated Content）。從自己的身份、身體到設計一個小世界，通通都是自我心境的創造與展現，以及其他心靈的共鳴與迴響。它像是從真實世界走回到自己內心的一個內在之旅：等到你開始覺得無聊的時候，你的旅程正要開始。這個節目總有兩部紀錄片，《第二個我》描述一位德國男士的線上與線下的生活，作為第二人生與第一人生的對比。 2007年在美國Cinemax播放過的《Molotov Alva》則以新的攝影軟體，是完全在第二人生的虛擬世界裡拍的，記錄一位男士脫離人生世界而深入去探索第二人生的各種可能性。

Second Life is a 3D virtual world created in 2003. It now has more than 13 million users globally, up to 60,000 of which can be logged in at any one time. Many believe that Second Life represents an intensification of the way we interact with virtual space. The two documentaries here show Second Life from two different angles. “Second Me” follows Second Life user Bendix. In Real Life (RL), he is an unemployed, single, chainsmoking German man who hardly leaves his apartment. In Second Life (SL), he leads a wild life with beautiful women in a virtual art scene. “Molotov Alva and his Search for the Creator: A Second Life Odyssey” is a groundbreaking work by US director Douglas Gayeton that aired in part on Cinemax in the US in 2007. Having worked with the likes of William Gibson in applying new technologies to storytelling, Gayeton here chose to “film” completely within Second Life, using software that records action in the 3D world. The story consists of the video diaries of Molotov Alva, who has left Real Life behind to embark on a SL quest for higher meaning.

以極寫實手法展現中國東北黑龍江自然美景的紀錄長片，面臨中國政府強制遷移而無家可歸的邊境小民，如何以最原始、最靜默的生存方式堅持他們的冰雪烏托邦，為中國正急速消失的少數族群譜出一首輓歌。故事中，在中國長白山深處，獵人、女人、流浪漢、兩條狗還有一隻貓，組成了一個家庭。他們住在一個廢棄林場的破房子中，周圍幾十里內只有這一戶人家，他們靠冬天狩獵，夏天放幾隻山羊為生。國家在他們住的山下修建了一個水庫供哈爾濱飲用水，要求他們搬遷。冬天裡他們住的破房子被扒掉了一半，一家人在風雪中等待著春天的到來…

This naturalistic feature length documentary beautifully chronicles the strangeness of life on the margins of the world’s most populous country. A couple in a remote shack take in a wandering herdsman and prepare to survive a yet another brutal winter in China’s northeastern hinterland. They live by poaching animals and through everyday kindness and hard work. Mid-winter, the roof of their cottage is torn off by the government, which plans to flood the land to create a reservoir. The film highlights the plight of millions of Chinese who undergo “forced migrations” and paints a stoic picture of human endurance.

An intimate, black and white portrait of Sonic Youth shot by seven high school students who wandered are given all access to roam around backstage and onstage during a concert in Reno, Nevada. Their cameras reveal a strikingly honest account of underground music superstar couple, Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon. Produced by Project Moonshine, a non-profit organization to teach filmmaking skills to students in the hopes they will document events in their communities, the film succeeds through its candor and honesty, peering into the minds of this band that has spent more than two decades on the road. And then there is the music, ten gorgeous songs, filmed from multiple angles and expertly woven together.

100 chronicles the last three months of a cancer stricken woman who has a list of things to do before she dies. Her list of tasks, mostly closures and practical undertakings, expands to the worldly and the spiritual as people close to her share her last days. The film examines the betrayal of the body, celebrates the senses and contemplates the end of life and how to live it. A light-hearted, briskly paced, youthful take on a classic subject, 100 took home the most number of awards from 2008 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival including Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actress. It also won the Audience Choice Award at the 2008 Pusan International Film Festival.

2008年8月，兩支搖滾樂隊，乘坐同一輛巴士，從北京出發，沿途駐演五個中國城市，完成了一場跨越5,768公里的「愛噪音」公路巡演。PK14，哲學詩人氣質的老牌後朋克樂隊，後海大鯊魚，玩唱時尚車庫舞曲的後起新秀，他們是中國獨立搖滾樂隊的兩極。但他們一樣熱血，一樣執著，一樣迷茫卻充滿希望。他們一起上路，一起收集各種聲音，一起在聲音中找尋真相。他們聯合沿途的當地樂隊，在地底，向上，破土——喊出新聲。地面上的人紛紛駐足傾聽。噪音入侵了他們的耳朵，與大腦陷入愛戀。

A documentary on two cutting edge Chinese rock bands, PK14 and Queen Sea Big Shark, covering 5768 km on a tour of China. PK14 is a punk band steeped in philosophy and poetic reference. Queen Sea Big Shark (which played at Hohaiyan last year) is hot-blooded and ready to get wild. They are two poles of China’s emerging scene.

這個電影很壓抑，甚至殘酷，講的是一個搬運工愛上一個被男友逼迫賣淫的姑娘。結尾時候，該散的散，該抓的抓，不該死的死，隨著敲木魚的和尚超度聲，看見這幾個字：「永遠年輕,永遠熱淚盈眶——凱路亞克」。整個電影基調都用灰黃色，象黃連一樣，苦澀的讓人難受。《草芥》被從全球330個電影項目中被選拔出來，獲得2006年秋季荷蘭鹿特丹國際電影節HBF獎金（和很多國外基金一樣，HBF旨在幫助發展中國家富有才華和革新精神的電影導演實現其夢想）。
